Behind the layer of white paper cut out with the shape of the state, there is a rusty orange and black monoprint created from acrylic paint that includes a reproduction of the state map with boundary lines for each city and town. The image transfer process used to create this layer adds color and texture, and the imperfections are the best part. 3D paper leaves are scattered across the map, evoking the fleeting beauty of a New England autumn! The leaves are colored with a light watercolor wash to add texture and layers of color and glued in place.
