Please describe the place and its location, i.e. “Wrentham, MA town outline” or “Lake Winnipesaukee, New Hampshire, coastline map”

Choose your artwork dimensions, or I can choose them for you based on the best design for the map you want me to depict. The outside dimensions of the frame are about 1″ larger than the artwork size in each direction.

Choose the color of paper you would like for the background of your map!

Choose to upgrade your frame from standard glass to anti-reflective glass (to reduce glare and add some UV protection) or plexiglass (to reduce glare and risk of breakage).

Place Marker Style

Optionally add a paper “pin” to mark an important spot on your map, select “None” for no marker.

For Where You Are, Where You’ve Been, and Where You Want to Go

Whether you want to remember a place you used to live, celebrate your current home, or create a gallery wall of all of the places that are important to you, a custom Paper Place is anywhere you want it to be. Fill in the details of your request below. I will turn your town, city, country, island, lake, or other geographic area into a one-of-a-kind 3D paper artwork that you can display for all to see.

Customization Options

In the spirit of late-night TV, “but wait, there’s more!” You not only get to choose the location featured in your custom artwork, you also get to choose:

  • A background color: Over 20 background color options are available, see product images for swatches. Help with color matching is available, and custom color options may be possible. For smaller pieces you can opt to choose from a selection of original abstract paintings/monoprints, for larger pieces you can upgrade to a custom collaged background.
  • Whether to add a place marker: Choose from a house shape, heart shape, or a plain marker to highlight a specific location within the area of your map. Any address can be selected, perhaps the address of your home, or the location of your school, wedding venue, office building, etc.
  • A glass upgrade: Each Paper Place is framed with standard framing glass. If you’re concerned about breakage I can swap that out for plexiglass. If you’d like less glare on the glass and some UV protection (keeps the paper from fading as quickly) you can upgrade to Anti-Reflective Glass

Turnaround Time

Custom maps ship in 5-10 business days, sometimes faster or shorter depending on the location you choose and my current order queue. Please contact me before placing your order if you have specific questions or needs around turnaround time.

Process

When you place your order, include as much information as possible in the description field.

I will email you in 1-2 business days with any followup questions, as well as an estimate of when you’ll receive the digital mockup of your map design (or the actual mockup, depending on my workload). You’ll have a chance to review the mockup and make changes to the background color, map design/layout, and the caption/text.

Once I have your approval via email I will cut your map, frame it up, and get it in the mail to you.

    I received the Martha’s Vineyard Paper Place art as a gift a while back and have since ordered a few maps. First as a gift for a family after their father died as a reminder of home. I am now getting a custom map for my parents of the country they are leaving as they are preparing to retire after several decades abroad.
