Blue Line Train MBTA Paper Art

$80.00

The MBTA Blue Line connects downtown Boston to the Boston Logan International Airport, the neighborhood of East Boston, and Revere Beach in the city of Revere. It’s a relatively short line compared to other subway lines in the city, but a vital connector for commuters, travelers, and beach-goers! When the subway lines were color coded in 1965, this line was given the blue color because it travels through a tunnel under the Boston Harbor, a rare ocean-going subway line. That tunnel has actually been in use for various public transit modes since 1904, and was the first underwater subway tunnel built in North America.

This paper model of a 700-series Blue Line train car is created from nearly 100 individually designed and cut pieces of paper, and carefully assembled by hand. The model is mounted to a blue background created with acrylic paint using a mono-printing technique. The black frame is 8.75″ (about 22cm) square and 1.125″ (about 3cm) deep. It looks great as part of a gallery wall, and is small enough to fit in some of those weird corners and nooks, or on a bookshelf!
